Georgia covers a diverse landscape that rolls from the Appalachian Mountains in its northwest corner to the barrier islands and beaches along its Atlantic coastline. The state is home to over 100 wildlife management areas that offer over one million acres of hunting lands, where hunters can bag deer, duck, quail, and more. Fishing is also popular in the state, with 4,000 miles of trout streams and some 12,000 miles of other streams packed with bass, catfish, bluegill, and bream. Lands of America recently had almost $16 billion in land and other rural acreage for sale in the Peach State. The overall size of land for sale in the state is 711,611 acres. This represents a one percent increase over April 2019 in the total number of land and property in Georgia for sale. Of the 159 counties in the state, Gilmer County had the most land for sale. There were 5,261 acres of sold land in Georgia recorded last month through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a one percent decrease in sales activity over the month before, with a combined land value of $16 million for all property and land sold in the state. Burke and Paulding County saw the most land sales recently in the state. In terms of its size, Georgia is the country's 24th-largest state, covering an area of 59,441 square miles (38 million acres). Game species to be found on land for sale in Georgia include turkey, whitetail deer, ducks, dove, quail, and hog. Fishermen have their choice of bass, catfish, and trout.
