Recent data from Lands of America shows nearly $4 billion in land, homesites and other rural acreage for sale in Alabama, which covers over 517,000 acres of land for sale in the state. Of the 67 counties in the state, Baldwin County had the most land for sale. There were 9,904 acres of sold land in Alabama recorded in December through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from the month before. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $21 million. The most land sales in the state last month were located in Crenshaw County. Alabama takes full advantage of its plentiful natural assets, with over 1.3 million acres of public hunting lands and some of the country's most liberal hunting seasons and bag limits. Some of the most popular wildlife species to hunt in Alabama include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, mourning doves, rabbits, and waterfowl. The state has also been ranked among the ten best states for the cost of living by U.S. News & World Report. In terms of its size, Alabama is the country's 30th-largest state, covering an area of 52,423 square miles (34 million acres). In its entirety, 50,645 square miles covers land area, while the remaining 1,775 square miles is covered by water. Wildlife to be found on land for sale in Alabama include whitetail deer, turkey, dove, ducks, and quail. Anglers have their choice of bass, catfish, trout, and pike.
