Recent data from Lands of America records $235 million in land and other rural acreage for sale for sale in the Garden State. This represents a total of 10,612 acres of New Jersey land for sale. Of the 21 counties in the state, Gloucester County had the most land and farms for sale. The most expensive piece of land listed for sale in New Jersey on Lands of America recently was $7 million, although the median price for farms, ranches and other land for sale in New Jersey came in at $423,170. The average price of land for sale in New Jersey was $500,727. New Jersey holds more than a half-million acres of state-owned land available for outdoor recreation in a diverse landscape that spreads from hardwood ridges to pine forests to coastal marshlands. Of this, some 350,000 acres reside within 121 wildlife management areas specially designated for wildlife and wildlife-related recreation. Garden State hunters enjoy over 100 days of deer hunting and season for bow, shotgun and muzzle-loading rifle hunts. With numerous opportunities to hunt species including deer, boar and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in New Jersey. New Jersey ranks among the country's smallest states in terms of size, covering an area of 8,722 square miles (6 million acres). In total, 7,354 square miles (84 percent) is made up of land, while the remaining 1,368 square miles is made up of water.
