Outdoor journal Seneca Creek recently pegged Pennsylvania as one of the country's "Top 3 Fly-fishing States," and it's hard to disagree with this assessment. Species including trout, steelhead, and panfish swim in more than 85,000 miles of streams and rivers, along with 4,000 inland lakes and ponds. The state is home to 480 species of wild birds and wild mammals, many of which can be hunted on almost 1.5 million acres of state game lands. Lands of America data records appromixately $6 billion in land and other rural acreage for sale in Pennsylvania, which covers a total of 221,551 acres of land for sale in Pennsylvania. This reflects a 106 percent increase over last month in the total number of Pennsylvania land and property for sale. Of the 67 counties in the state, Pike County had the most land and farms for sale. There were 654 acres of sold land in Pennsylvania recorded in April through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a decline in sales activity over data from the previous month. The most land sales in the state last month were recorded in Perry County. In terms of size, Pennsylvania is the country's 33rd-largest state, covering an area of 46,058 square miles (29 million acres). Wildlife species to be found on land for sale in Pennsylvania include whitetail deer, turkey, bear, grouse, ducks, pheasant, geese, and dove. Fishermen have their pick of bass, catfish, trout, walleye, pike, and salmon.
