The South Canadian River Ranch is 591 acres of primarily wooded hills and creek bottoms that drain into the river. The ranch is located just north of Francis, OK and has 650 feet of river frontage plus 7300 feet of the crystal clear Factory Creek running through the property. In addition, there are two 1 acre ponds plus a third dry pond of the same size that is scheduled for repairs.
The property slopes downward 190 feet from the hills in the south to the river bottom on the north. While most of the property is blanketed with a forest of mature timber, there are about 60 acres that are a mixture of meadows and scrub trees such as wild plums. Black walnut, pecan and other large hardwoods line the creek and river bottoms while large red oaks cover the ridges and boulder lined slopes.
The property is ideal for those seeking the ultimate in outdoor recreation. It has a great population of ducks in the winter time, plus this area is known for outstanding trophy whitetails. Last deer season the Daily Oklahoman ran a story on two 200-inch bucks killed just down the river from this property. The fishing is also good as you can hit the ponds or try your luck on the river. Rock hounds and artifact seekers can also hunt for arrowheads and petrified wood along Factory Creek. The river also provides you an opportunity to ride for miles when the water levels drop in the summer. This is also an ideal time to search for deep holes full of stranded catfish. How much more fun could you have than taking the kids on an ATV adventure down the river that included catching hungry catfish on every catch. Follow that up with a fish fry at the picnic area at the edge of the river and they will be hooked for life.
There are three miles of improved oil field roads on the property that connect old pad sites. In addition, there are many miles of ATV trails that wind throughout the property. These trails offer a range of riding experiences from tame flats to more challenging rock trails up the boulder lined slopes. In addition to being an ideal family getaway, this property could also be a great ATV/RV Park. With tons of trails already established, access to unlimited river riding and great bog style riding in the unstable sand bed of Factory Creek; this property would be an ideal place to set up an adventure based business.
Old oil field equipment and debris are currently scheduled for removal. Once complete, the property will be restored to a largely pristine condition. The drain pipe on the dry pond will also be repaired at the same time. There is a small cabin built into the side of the hill overlooking the dry pond that can be renovated and updated so that you can enjoy extended stays on the ranch. Two metal shop buildings and a large metal shed also offer storage for you ATVs and equipment.
